WOOBIE WEAR…..A Fashion Statement with Heart
Woobie Wear, the cute meets couture hair accessory brand, is more than just another pretty face in the fashion industry. They're a company on a mission to provide ill children with beauty, those with disabilities with rewarding jobs, and worthy charities with extra support.
In 2004, founder and designer Lisa Blackman, found her inspiration in the birth of her baby girl affectionately nicknamed "Woobie," and by 2006 had launched the company. Their product line includes adorable headbands, hats, and vibrantly colored flower clips for babies, toddlers, and tweens, with even a mother-daughter line. Their signature Woobie Wear hats are crocheted by hand from their exclusive, one-of-a-kind pattern, with each sequin and ribbon added piece by piece. Each of their gorgeous flower is attached to a clip that makes them a versatile way to mix and match with any hat or headband. Recently, Woobie Wear also added a full line of versatile Magnetic Strands that can be worn as a necklace, bracelet, anklet or headband, feather clip-in hair extensions, fedoras for boys and girls, winter head wraps and over-the-knee socks.
Woobie Wear strives to bring a little fun and beauty to kids that are struggling to overcome huge obstacles and terrible diseases. Every product they donate is a work of art that lights up a child's face the second the wrapping paper comes off. While their products are becoming a smiling staple in local hospitals, they recently were able to spread the love overseas by donating hats to Shizuoka Children's Hospital in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2012, under the Woobie Wear, Inc. brand, an exclusive special occasion, wedding and prom line of sophisticated flower clips will be premiering for pre-teen through adults.
The trip from design to reality is an interesting one at Woobie Wear, as part of their product line is produced and packaged in partnership with St. Coletta's of Illinois Foundation. This organization provides support and funding for special needs individuals so they can take an active part in their communities. Woobie Wear is proud to provide the foundation with a number of fulfilling jobs that have in turn helped the company blossom.
By combining her passion for fashion, with the spirit of giving, Lisa and Woobie Wear have been able to enrich their community and donate proceeds to several charities that help families fighting pediatric cancer. Any time a customer or friend has a child battling cancer; Woobie Wear will go the distance to lend support and donations to their cause. In addition, Woobie Wear raises money for their bi-annual charity event at Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and has partnered up with Supermodels Unlimited Magazine (www.supermodelsunlimited.com) to bring in funds year round.
